CIRCUIT FEST: MUSIC & SKATE

Summer 2013 was filled with chores and basically that’s it. But then May 25 happened. I was so lucky (incredibly lucky actually!!!) that I got to attend my first 2013 concert, Circuit Fest: Music & Skate. The wait was so, so, SO worth it I promise you.

Oh, first I want to apologize for the quality of majority of the photos I am going to use because I don’t own a decent camera so…. yeah.

I was with my usual company of concert buddies - Pogs, Daque, Chelsea, Irene and Khate. The best!

silly-faced Daque, Pogs and I while waiting in line at Globe Circuit Makati. I think we were in line for 30-45 minutes. The heat was a killer. We all know that, Philippines. Hence, the umbrella, posters and all.

Once inside, the first thing that caught my attention were the food trucks! I was super aliw seeing them lined up and all.

I really wanted to buy a burger but well money problems so buying something (a burger preferably!) from a food truck is still on my list.

After strolling a bit, we decided to go inside the Gen. Ad area and sit on the oh-so-comfy grass. Then Khate said she brought playing cards so we tried to bring it out and play and see if the bouncers were going to mind us playing but they didn’t - some actually watched for a while - so we continued. (MMI, if you see this, we were just playing silly games like 1,2,3 pass haha no gambling and all!) image

Me and Chelsea naks super candid while playing Bullshit/Bluff! Spoiler alert: I lost.

We played a couple of rounds then felt bored but then A+ Dropouts came on stage so we watched and fooled around.

Megan Nicole came next. She’s really pretty and has a cute cute cute voice!

And the boys from This Century took the stage next! It was so good seeing them perform again and hear songs from their new record Biography of Heartbreak. Go give it a listen everyone if you haven’t yet! (segue plugging haha!)

There was a short break after TC played so I decided to buy dinner from one of the stalls. I was waiting for my order, rice and cordon bleu, when THE DOWNTOWN FICTION CAME ON STAGE OH MY GOD (yes intense emotions) so I hurried back to our place and ate while they were playing! I had to because I felt like I’d pass out if I didn’t. Trying to jump and sing along plus eating kanin at ulam is not advisable. Oh did I mention that it started to drizzle? So I put my food down for a while cause I really wanted to  jam because I was really looking forward to seeing them live and it was beyond amazing! They play so great live and Manila really needs a solo concert for them because reasons!!!!!! 12 songs ain’t enough you know? And I still need to hear Living Proof live.

I wish we were nearer the stage :( (crappy photo alert!)

The young boys of Before You Exit came next. (awfully crappy photo again) It was raining during their set but instead of using my umbrella to cover ourselves, we used it for our bags so we could dance around. It was a lot of fun! These boys have a bright future ahead, I tell you. So many fans at such young age! Connor’s my favorite by the way heehee

We Are The In Crowd came next and I was really looking forward to seeing them because I missed them last June 2. Really thought we were going to die from fatigue when the 5th song came because we just kept on singing and jumping and we also joined a circle pit and a mosh pit! That was pretty rad! I can’t wait to do that again. Plus it was still raining a bit during their set. Really enjoyed every song!

Allstar Weekend was next but we didn’t know them so we just strolled for a while and lay around because we needed the energy for Mayday’s set! Well thank goodness we had a break.

So, MAYDAY PARADE!! I’ll always be hyped to see them live because duh? Oh, Khate had to leave before their set and that was super sad because she hasn’t seen them live yet. Oh well. Also, it was Irene’s first time to see them live so she was pretty emotional haha! Since I wasn’t able to attend BRF 1 (sucks, I know.) I was really excited to hear songs from their self-titled album and yay! finally. There was this one moment when Brooks did a guitar flip and it was caught on camera and Daque and I said at the exact same moment “Putangina!! Si Brooks!!” T’was pretty cool. They played 10 songs and it was really bitin. Wish they played more.

After their set, we went backstage and Brooks came over! He was really nice to stay and try to meet everyone. I appreciate that so much cause he really looked tired and all. Well I just asked him to sign my planner since I already met him the night before and I want the others to have the chance as well. Good Girl Rikki.

A few minutes after Yellowcard started, Irene and Chelsea had to go home so Daque, Pogs and I were left. I don’t know much of Yellowcard’s new songs but made a promise to myself to listen to everything because they just left me in awe! I can’t wait to see them again.

The video just embodies the song you know? It’s so simple and raw but at same time it’s emotional. You can really FEEL. (I mean how can you not when John!!! aahhh)

On the beach in Rio De Janeiro… I will remember this day for the rest of my life. We went to hangout on the beach and some kids thought it would be a fun afternoon to watch us from about a 100 feet away. I thought it was really funny so I snapped this photo of kenny. We ended up meeting everyone before we left the beach. I dont think we will have a more beautiful background to a meet and greet ever again. haha
